One of the greatest fears parents may have is not being able to keep their family safe from harm. Regardless of how diligently one drives, car accidents can be some of the most unpredictable dangers. Recently, one Michigan wreck took the life of a young mother and left two children critically injured.

According to the police, the woman was traveling with her two 5-year-old boys in their vehicle. She was headed in a westerly direction and apparently had the right-of-way at a local crossroads. A pickup truck traveling north did not stop at the intersection and smashed into the 33-year-old woman’s vehicle.

The collision killed the mother. The twin boys in the car both suffered undisclosed critical injuries and were transported to a local children’s medical center for care. The driver of the truck fled the accident scene on foot. Police were unable to track him that evening despite calling for assistance from helicopters and trained canines.

Michigan officials did later locate a man believed to be the driver. They also believe that alcohol was a possible factor in the crash as alcohol containers were found in the truck. This family will now have to go on without the children’s beloved mother while attempting to help the young twin boys recover from their injuries. When families face these types of horrific tragedies, they often must deal with crippling monetary damages as well. They may chose to seek justice and relief from these financial losses by pursuing a civil suit against the parties believed responsible for these senseless and often preventable car accidents.
